Lane Kiffin early favorite to be Giants’ next coach

Reuters, November 10, 2025

Lane Kiffin already has his name tied to multiple college football openings and can now add an NFL vacancy to the list of jobs he may have available should he leave Ole Miss. Read the full story.

Kiffy’s Take

There have been rumors of Kiffin wanting to get back into the NFL. Not sure this is the right landing spot for him, though. The org has largely been in disarray ever since Coughlin and Manning departed. GM Joe Schoen has taken as much blame for the current state of the Giants and he is still entrenched - for now. Lane notoriously hates cold weather. I don’t know if that plays into a job like this, but he went so far as to mention it specific to this job in a convo with Jaxson Dart’s father. Speaking of which, reuniting with his college QB in the nation’s largest media market might be enough to get him to jump. I’d stop by Joe Judge’s office for a quick convo before doing so, though.

Lane Kiffin's wife Layla, kids are giving us answer if he'll leave Ole Miss or not

Matthew Graham, Sports Illustrated, November 10, 2025

The hottest name in the college football head coach sweepstakes for LSU, Florida, and others is at Ole Miss. Hasn't his family already given us the answer? Read the full story.

Kiffy’s Take

This is a take, for sure. I know the folks in Oxford are banking on this being the case - that family wins out in the end. I would probably correct a few things in this article. As far as I know while Lane and Layla are on good terms, I’m not sure I’d call them “reconciled.” She has appeared more often in his social feeds, so maybe that’s a sign things are moving in that direction, but they don’t live together. Although, she did move to Oxford. As far as I know, most of the Kiffin family (Lane’s siblings and children) have moved there. It does appear to have a strong hold on the family. Knox is obviously excelling at Oxford High School, where he has become the starting quarterback and leading his team into the state playoffs. Is it asking a lot to uproot them and move? Absolutely, but I’ve always believe his family ultimately will go wherever he goes.

Kiffy’s Take

The good stuff starts at 3:45 when Kiffin starts to talk about a “good job.” He’s obviously all in on NIL, revenue sharing, the “player pool” as he calls it. And it’s no secret, Ole Miss is punching above its weight class in this department. If you listen to the other stuff, the access to talent, the fan support, the history and tradition, I mean it sounds like a pitch straight out of UFL marketing. Another good bit at 11:45 where he starts talking about his son and his high school season. Side observation, Lane seems a lot more comfortable talking football and about his kid than about his career. That’s kind of the theme for the day - family vs. career.
