Is it just me or has Lane Kiffin inherited the mantle of Nick Saban? It’s wild if you think about it. He doesn’t have the post-season success of Smart or Sarkisian, but his persona has parlayed the success he does have into a (or the?) leading voice of college football.

Louisiana governor Jeff Landry really stepped into it this afternoon. What was scheduled as a presser to discuss the local effects of the government shutdown devolved into an airing of grievances over the money tied up in college football and the people responsible (hint: he points the finger squarely at Jimmy Sexton without naming him and the ADs that engage him in negotiations, directly naming Scott Woodward). It’s no secret in Oxford that Kiffin enjoys a very strong relationship with the Ole Miss Chancellor and AD. One can’t help but wonder if he would give that up for the circus in Baton Rouge. Let this shake out for a couple of days before making any broad proclamations, but the governor did LSU no favors today.
