Kiffy’s Take
This is the rub now. And this will be the story until (IF) Ole Miss loses again. Let’s look at that math real quick. According to ESPNs FPI, the Rebels have at least a 74% chance to win each of its remaining games and a 36% chance of winning all four games. That 36% jumps to 57% if Ole Miss wins this weekend vs. South Carolina. 11-1 Ole Miss is getting in - no doubt. But interestingly, their chances of making the playoffs are basically a coin-flip (56%) if they lose another game. You see where I’m going? Florida could wreck their season and steal their coach. Or Florida could wreck their season and LSU steal their coach. Or Ole Miss wins out and Florida and/or LSU have a decision to make - wait or move on. If one doesn’t have a coach by Christmas, you’ll know they’re waiting on Kiffin. And I would surmise they both would require an agreement long before any playoff delayed announcement.
